WOW! Bareilly Ki Barfi is adapted from this French novel and this is how the director came across the book
Bareilly Ki Barfi will bring together the trio Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon for the first time. While the film has already been wrapped up, we recently came across an intriguing fact about the script of the same and reportedly, the film is an adaptation of a French novel ‘The Ingredients of Love’.
In fact, the director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari came across the English edition of the same whilst she was at the Delhi international airport. It seems that the book immediately grabbed her attention and she couldn’t put the book down until the end. She further even insisted her husband and filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari read it. When she placed her suggestion of wanting to make a film on the same, her husband not only supported her but he also wrote the script.
Nitesh Tiwari went on to adapt the film as per Indian settings and let us tell you that Barielly Ki Barfi is shot in an extensive UP setting. Talking about the difficulty behind adapting it as per our theme, Nitesh went on to speak about how he added colours, quirks and essence to the characters in pure North Indian style. From basic habits to the backdrop, Nitesh has ensured that the entire film showcases the life of Uttar Pradesh since a French setting is rather alien to us.
While the Tiwari couple is excited about the film’s release, the two of them are keeping their fingers crossed about the release of Bareilly Ki Barfi since it is their attempt to make a film that is quite different from their previous ventures.
